Suchocki and Son’s drainage and roadway improvements on Leetes Island in Guilford, CT involved the replacement of a failing reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and existing tide gate to restore reliable drainage and tidal flow. Work included the installation and management of temporary water handling systems, including cofferdams, pumps, and discharge locations, to maintain a dry and safe work area throughout construction. The project also included the installation of a new 4′ × 6′ precast concrete box culvert with associated wingwalls and headwalls, construction of a new cast-in-place concrete seawall section, and reconstruction of the roadway subgrade followed by repaving of Shell Beach Road to restore the roadway and improve long-term infrastructure resilience.
